Hi, I'm JT.
I've spent most of my career at the delivery end of business change, running the programmes that get new things working inside companies. At Amazon I developed the global virtual customer service strategy and led the EU launch and operational integration of new Kindle and Fire devices. I was programme director at Castle Water while it grew to more than £0.5 billion in revenue, and I've done the same kind of work in energy, data and aviation, across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the US and Canada.
Aviation has run alongside all of it. I started in the Air Cadets, gained my private pilot's licence in 1997 and held a commission in the RAF Volunteer Reserve. Later I founded AV8 Flight School, which trained drone operators for companies including Skyports and SkyLift UAV. These days I instruct gliding with 661 Volunteer Gliding Squadron at RAF Kirknewton.
Away from work I'm usually tinkering with 3D-printed flight simulator parts or out with my two Border Collies.
Kanati is where that work goes now. I help companies get what they need, and at the moment most of them need a clear view of what AI means for them and the capability to act on it.
Point of view
What I think about AI and companies.
- What a company needs from AI is almost always a capability. Ambition and strategy are how you find out which one.
- Writing software is no longer the hard part, for anyone. Build what fits your company when that is the easiest route.
- Skip the fear. Read what changed this week, work out what it means for your role, and use it.
